ACT RAF Projects
The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative to support sustainable, community-based cultural development in regional, remote and isolated areas in Australia. The funding is targeted at activities that will have long term cultural, economic and social benefits that develop partnerships and cultural networks and that provide skills development opportunities.
$90,000 funding has been allocated towards seven major new projects in the Southern Highlands and Tablelands and ACT communities in 2008
Projects will provide opportunity for professional development and community engagement through diverse art forms including dance, music and song, visual arts and theatre.
The 2008 Projects
Mirramu Dance Co “All the Rivers Don't Run” A collaborative multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural project of dance, sculpture, music and voice.

Surya Bajracharya “Mentorship with John Loane in lithography”. Surya will be undertaking 6 week mentorship in the medium of lithography with artist/master printmaker John Loane at Megalo Arts Access Inc.
Brass Ballet in the Bush “Brass Ballet in the Bush - Bugger Me!” The development of a choreographic piece for 8 dancers and featuring music performed by the Hall Village Brass Band, in tandem with a photography project in collaboration with PhotoAccess. An outcome will be a performance in the Yass Valley local government area. For more information contact the STARTS office
Lieder Theatre Co “The Ballad of Mary Ann Brownlow touring ACT region” Engagement of 4 regional artsworkers and Canberra-based performers to coordinate, rehearse and present with members of the community, performances of the locally written and highly successful play The Ballard of Mary Ann Brownlow to ACT, Braidwood, Queanbeyan, Gunning, Crookwell, Boorowa, Yass and Berrima.

Weereewa A Festival of Lake George Committee “Shoreline: "A Weereewa Sculpture Trail” A sculpture trail around Lake George as part of the Weereewa Festival. Ten to twelve artists will be selected and work installed at specific sites around the lake. Visitors will follow a trail map on self-guided walks or drives.

The Silken Tent “Colours from the Land: natural dyes and the rural community” Foster professional development between two textile artists who will deliver an outreach program via a series of workshops in the rural communities of Braidwood and the Canberra region. Wingecarribee Shire Council “Singing Quilt” Commissioning new work from local composer Andrew Ford, choir development, workshops held my Moya Simpson.
